Fox & Hounds FC - Season Review 2009-2010
Having re-built the side after an interesting pre-season we started the season very well winning the first 7 games losing the first game on 1st November to a good Heathfield side who went on to win the 4th Division title, runners up were EDFC the Fox finishing a comfortable third losing 6 league games.
Once again the cups seemed to spur the players on, however unlike previous seasons they were extremely competitive, last 16 of the Araglen Cup saw the poorest performance losing at home 4-1 to Weston Wanderers, Quarter- Finals of the NFA Sunday Vase losing 5-0 against a well drilled Pomfret Celtic side and finally a gut wrenching last minute 1-0 defeat in the NTFA C&E Cup to EDFC. The club has some notable performances during the cup runs away at Wellingborough OG's at Blakesley also against Corby White Hart and the Hart of Duston.
Overall 35 players were used, including 9 different Goalkeepers and 23 goal scorers.
Season statistics:
Plyd Won Drew Lost For Against
27 17 2 9 90 56
Only one player Captain Mick O'Dwyer (O.D) played in all 27 games, Danny McCabe top scoring with 20 goals.
Notable season performances included Scot Baker, Tom Peacock, Greg Wright, Baz Swann, Dodge Wright and Anthony Mangan.
In all it was a difficult season particularly unsettled on no occasion could the same side be selected for the next game mainly due to absentees and injuries, players joined the club right up to the end of the season. The season petered out somewhat with some well below average performances towards the end.
To all those players that have left the club we wish you well and to all the new players we look forward to working with you to make the Fox & Hounds a successful football club.
I would like to thank all of the staff and members for their support throughout you know who you are.
Bully.
